The Women of Tahrir Square

A month after the (overdue, to say the least) resignation of Hosni Mubarak, I’m still reeling from the incredible display of profound courage on the part of the Egyptian people; their collective action let their tyrannical government – and the world – know that they would not be denied their freedom.  One aspect of the story I’ve been particularly moved by was the involvement of women who stood up to the armed and menacing forces that were attempting to prolong their oppression.

Last weekend, I had the absolute pleasure of watching a short documentary about some women involved in this, one of the largest-scale and most effective political actions in recent history.  It’s about 27 minutes long and so worth the watch.  Check it out here and have a great weekend!
